Interior deep clean in Sheffield — the X1 was the outside of the job

This X1 is a finished car on a drive, with a 3 Series nosing into the frame behind it. I shot it for @washyluxe because the outside is what people tap on. The job that took the time was the interior. I do not put filthy seats on the grid. If you are searching for an interior deep clean in Sheffield, that is the honest picture: a family BMW that looks ordinary from the kerb and had three years of the A61 in the carpet pile.

What I actually clean

Dry soil comes out before wet soil is pushed around. Pedal surrounds, seat runners and the lip of the boot get as much time as the bits you would photograph. Soft plastics are cleaned, not dressed into a greasy shine that smears the first time a coat touches them. Leather is treated as leather. Cloth seats get extraction so the foam is not left damp to smell by Wednesday.

• Carpets and mats — including the felt that holds grit from the A61 and Meadowhall.
• Seats, bolsters and ISOFIX gaps.
• Dashboard, piano-black and switchgear without grinding dust into the grain.
• Glass, inside, so night driving on the Parkway is not a smear.
• Boot, including the cubby that holds the dog lead and the hi-vis.

How the Sheffield visit works

I drive in from Glapwell. Dore, Totley, Ecclesall, Banner Cross, Crookes, Hillsborough, Chapeltown, the estates off the Parkway. A driveway or a wide enough private bay is enough. I am not set up to block a permit street in Kelham Island for three hours, and I will tell you that rather than turn up and improvise.

A family car that lives between Ecclesall Road and the school on Ringinglow does not usually fail on the paint first. It fails on crushed cereal in the ISOFIX, wet kit in the boot, and a film on the inside of the windscreen. If the interior has gone beyond crumbs — mould after a damp winter, a flood from a blocked sunroof — say so when you book. That is quoted. It takes chemistry and dry time.
