What a ceramic coating does

A ceramic coating is a hydrophobic layer on clean paint. Water beads up and sheets off, taking loose dirt with it, so grime sticks less and the car is quicker and gentler to wash. It does not make a car immune to dirt, swirls or stone chips, and it does not replace washing.

The ceramic options we offer

  • Paint Enhancement, from £320. A machine polish to brighten the paint, plus a 1-year ceramic. It is not a full swirl-deletion, which is paint correction.
  • Winter Protection, from £380. Decontamination, enhancement and a 2-year Labocosmetica ceramic.
  • 7-year REIGN upgrade. Right now, Winter Protection bookings at the Glapwell unit get a free upgrade to the 7-year ceramic coating, worth £150.
  • Paint correction, quoted from £350. Swirls, haze and holograms. The hours depend on the paint, so we inspect the car at Glapwell first.

How the work goes

  • The car is washed and decontaminated at the unit to clear bonded road film and salt.
  • The paint is machine polished where the package includes it, so the coating goes onto prepared paint.
  • The ceramic layer is applied on clean paint in still air and controlled light, which lets it cure properly.

We tell you before booking if correction would not move the needle on your car.

Drive in from Sheffield, Chesterfield and Bolsover

The unit is at 8 Blacksmiths Close, Glapwell, near junction 29 of the M1. From Chesterfield it is a short drive of around 15 to 20 minutes. From Bolsover it is around 10 minutes. From Sheffield it typically takes 30 to 45 minutes, and longer at rush hour. Valets and washes can still come to your address, but coatings never do.

Frequently asked questions

Is ceramic coating done at my address?

No. Ceramic coating is done at our Glapwell unit only, at 8 Blacksmiths Close, Glapwell, Chesterfield S44 5NS. The paint needs still air and controlled light to be prepared and coated properly, which a driveway cannot give.

Which ceramic options do you offer?

Do you do full paint correction before a coating?

Paint correction is quoted from £350, and the hours depend on the paint, so we inspect the car at Glapwell first. If correction would not make a visible difference, we will say so instead of selling it to you.

I live in Sheffield. Is the drive worth it?

The drive typically takes 30 to 45 minutes and longer at rush hour. Book a drop-off slot, leave the car with us, and keep your mobile valets at home for the day-to-day cleaning.

Does a ceramic coating make the car scratch-proof or wash-free?

No. A coating is hydrophobic, so water beads and sheets off and dirt sticks less. That makes washing quicker and gentler, but the car still needs washing properly.
